biography

Sally Carson Artist

Sally Carson is an established contemporary Scottish Artist who lives and works in West Lothian, Scotland.

Having spent many years working in commerce, building and managing a successful business it was mid-life when she began to follow her lifelong dream of becoming an Artist, studying with Geoffrey Roper the Painter, attending Leith School of Art, Glasgow School of Art, The Open College of the Arts, graduating with a BA (Hons) Painting

From those late beginnings, Sally has painted professionally for many years and during that time has shared her love of painting with others in classes in her studio and as a tutor at local Art Groups.

Her paintings are mainly figurative and explore the human figure in many moods and environments. Portraiture has been her main specialism, but more recently a proportion of her paintings have been developed as collages based on using selected fragments from her own collection of old photographs and paintings over the years and including them in new paintings, bringing these nostalgic memories to life and in a way, creating a new illusionary reality.
